Marketing the Launch of the First Autonomous Spill-Response Skimmer Vessel
For this project, BluSiren, formerly A.WordSmith, traveled to Portland, Maine, to support the promotional activities of a major commercial marine industry event: Deployment of the world’s first autonomous spill-response vessel, made possible by Sea Machines Robotics’ tech. A.WordSmith generated the media announcements and event collateral, and managed all public relations activities on site. Following the event, A.WordSmith’s marketing muscle resulted in over 100+ media articles (including feature stories and a television news interview) and the video above, which yielded highly positive, objective observations from major industry players.
Activities and Results
The BluSiren team completed the following work in support of this project:
- Event Promotion
The team invited local and industry reporters to the skimmer’s debut event. We also sent custom invitations with a special event landing page to track RSVPs and interest. Result: Sea Machines experienced a high 50+ percent RSVP rate - On-Site PR Management
Pre-event and on-site management of the event’s public relations activities ensured consistent talking points were delivered and higher quality stories were produced. Result: 100+ media stories - Video Direction and Production
A planned storyboard guided the filming during the event and an editor was staged on site to quickly produce the final piece. Once final, the video was boosted online. Result: Engaging video with targeted viewership and a long shelf life. - Post-Event Speaking Opportunities
Following the debut, our team leveraged the vessel’s high-profile success by pitching company experts as speakers for upcoming industry events. Result: Secured three speaking engagements
